The flag carrier of Singapore, Singapore Airlines  is one of the world's largest airlines. The hub is Singapore Changi Airport.

Singapore Airlines flies to more than 60 destinations in 35 countries on six continents and is a member of the Star Alliance, which also has codeshare agreements with about 10 other airlines.

Singapore flies all wide body jets configured with four classes of service: Singapore Airlines Suites, First Class, Business Class and Economy Class.

The airline operates three lounges for premium passengers. The SilverKris Lounge has locations at 15 airports. Additionally, Changi Airport is home to The Private Room and KrisFlyer Gold Lounge.

Torchwood Travel recommends flying with Singapore Airlines - we have personally experienced Economy and Business class and flying Business Class with Singapore Airlines is amazing.

On arrival you may need to transfer terminals in order to clear immigration if you are making a stopover in Singapore.

Changi Airport’s terminals are connected by a free Skytrain service, which operates from 5.00am to 2.30am, at both the transit and public areas.

It takes approximately four minutes to travel between terminals by Skytrain, with an average waiting time of two minutes. So its really fast.

Should you be  TRANSITING Singapore ONLY  you can travel by foot via the inter-terminal travellators located throughout the Departure Transit areas.

Whilst in TRANSIT you may want to consider leaving the airport

so let Singapore’s sights and sounds, its amazing colours and beats, energy and electricity enthrall you on the FREE SINGAPORE CITY SIGHTS TOUR.

To get to Changi, transfer to the eastbound train at Tanah Merah station. The first train arrives at Changi Airport station at 5.26am from Monday to Saturday, and at 5.54am on Sundays and public holidays.

A single ride ticket can be purchased at train stations.  We would suggest you obtain a A stored-value EZ-Link card for multiple rides it is really worth it, and  can also be purchased from all the  train stations.  We experienced all the train service and can

highly recommend them.

PUBLIC BUSES stop at Terminals 1, 2 and 3. A single fare from the city via public bus service 36 is estimated to cost around $2.50 and the ride takes about an hour.

You do need to have the exact fare as no change will be given. Alternatively, a stored-value EZ-Link card for multiple rides works well.

Activities to do in Singapore

A CITY TOUR is a good idea to book so that you can get an idea

of your surroundings . TORCHWOOD TRAVEL can arrange this Tour  for you  to be picked up at your Hotel.

The City Tour takes you around the City. The starting point is in China Town  where you meet your Tour Leader. You are taken on a 30 minute walk around and visit the Merlion . The Merlion is the national personification of Singapore. Its name combines "mer" meaning the sea and "lion". The fish body represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village when it was called Temasek, which means "sea town" in Javanese.

The City Tour  takes you also to the Botanical Gardens and the amazing National Orchid Gardens - what a show of the most amazing Orchards all in bloom. It is well worth the visit.

The City Tour ends in Little India.  Its so colourful.  We had been fortunate to be there during Devali  Festival so all the streets have been decorated.  Little India once had a racecourse which some people dont know - In the 1840s Europeans lived in Little India just for the racecourse. Afterwards cattle trading took root and it became mostly Indian trade and traders.

Today Little India is one of Singapore’s most vibrant districts. Take a walk down  Serangoon Road and the neighbouring streets and get to explore their mix of Hindu and Chinese temples, mosques and churches.

The 24-hour shopping mall  at the Mustafa Centre offers everything from electronics to groceries, or take your pick from open-air Tekka Centre, goldsmith shops and sari stores.  So much to see

When visiting Singapore you must visit the GARDENS BY THE BAY.

When entering the Flower Dome you enter a world of perpetual Spring. THE FLOWER DOME showcases exotic plants from five different continents including Africa. There are thousands of years old olive trees and the unusual Baobabs.  Then there is the CLOUD FOREST containing the 35 metre indoor waterfall, its just totally amazing. Dont  forget the TREETOP WALK .  A superb view of the Cloud Forest can be seen.

At night you just cannot miss the Gardens by the Bay light show.

We have a video below to give you an idea  of how beautiful it is however being there and experiencing it takes you just to another world as the trees dance to the music.

There is a Tour called NIGHT OUT IN CHINATOWN in which you explore the Night Markets of CHINA TOWN , and included in this tour you have a chinese meal at a local restaurant  and in our case we went to YUM CHA.  After dinner you take a fabulous  TRISHAW RIDE  which is such a must to do and such amazing fun, end  the Tour with a cruise around the Singapore River in a traditional Bumboat.
